It took Beck Felton 10 years to find the right drug to cure bipolar disorder, but since then her life has been like “day and night.”

At the age of 47, Miss Felton calls people with bipolar disorder to take part in the world's largest genetic study of the acquired disease.

"People are usually prescribed lithium when they are first diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but it doesn't work for everyone, and it didn't work for me,” she said.

“This study is still supposed to find a method to foretell who will get bipolar disorder before the signs, in fact that will prevent a large amount of heart pain and injuries to people.

"In case I found out, in fact, that I have bipolar disorder before my first manic episode, I would not have faded for example a large number.
