The Detroit automaker announced plans to shut down the Detroit-Hamtramk Assembly plant, Lordstown Assembly plant in Warren, Ohio, and the Oshawa Assembly plant in Ontario by the end of 2019. GM will still shut down propulsion systems in Warren, Michigan and white March, Maryland in the same time frame.

"Production and the conclusion of the GM in light of the concessions to employees during the financial recourse and the proceeds of the taxpayers from bankruptcy establish a benefit before the working families of this state whose personal standing with the victims of GM in those dark days," said Terry Dittes, Vice-President of the UAW and Director of GM, told in the statement.

"These conclusions are considered a slap in the face of memory and a reminder that the historical Yankee arranged the proceeds."

The automaker talks, in fact, that the closure of these plants will increase the currency flow by $6 billion by the end of 2020. The Associated Press reports that this step will lead to the dismissal of 14,700 employees, which is 8100 employees.

Mary Barra, CEO and Chairman of the automaker, said that these measures would actually continue to modify GM into a "fairly flexible, resilient and profitable" firm with some important investment elasticity.

Duggan called the announcement "disturbing" and said the fact that the metropolis is working with the UAW and others, in order to find conclusions for injured employees.

Dingell referred to GM's choice as a "warning" about the defense and preservation of working spaces in the US.she said in her own statement that " Congress is obliged to work together on a bipartisan policy that protects the working space in this country, develops clean energy and supports the infrastructure for the restructuring of our future mobility."

North America is not the only area where reductions are felt, because GM is still talking, in fact it will shut down an Assembly plant in Gunsan, Korea, in addition to 2 other non-us plants by the end of the proper year.

"While the unity does not contain the full details of the joint announcement, we were told that at this point there is no product dedicated to the Oshawa Assembly plant in December 2019," said Unifor, the unity representing the injured workers, in a press release in response to the announcements.

"Based on the promises made during the 2016 Treaty negotiations, Unifor does not accept this statement and immediately calls on GM to respond to the spirit of this agreement."

Jennifer French, a provincial Commissioner of the region, said in a statement that GM is actually disavowing "100 years of industry and community-abandoning workers and families in Oshawa."She called the conclusion to close the plant and reduce 2500 working spaces "stale", with whom it is necessary to fight."
